Casa Emilia is a privately-owned two-bedroom property available for holiday rentals in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.

Located in the quiet residential village of La Pared in the south of the island, the resorts of Costa Calma and Jandia are within easy reach.

The pool is private and secluded - no need to reserve the sunbeds!

Due to continuous maintenance of the property, some features may have been recently updated. If an item depicted is important, check with us whether it is still as shown. For example, the large parasol shown here was later damaged by wind and had to be removed - part of the fun of being on the coast. Generally in La Pared we do not have the relentless winds that can inflict other parts of the island.
Casa Emilia has views to the west, of the sea and gorgeous sunsets.

The village is spread out below the development and has no high-rise buildings.

La Pared has just a couple of restaurants and bars, which are located a 5 - 10 minute walk from Casa Emilia.

Casa Emilia is a non-smoking property.

Sleeping four persons in two double bedrooms, the property is luxurious and well-appointed. These are proper leather sofas - not cane 'conservatory' furniture or bed-settees.

The lounge area has TV, DVD and CD player. There is a Play-Station 2 with some games and a selection of paper-backs on the book-shelves - feel free to swap with your own.

There is a dining area and kitchen with oven, hob, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, juicer, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The bathroom has a shower, also there is a guest wc. There are utility facilities with washing machine, iron and ironing board.

La Pared is located on the southern west coast of Fuerteventura. The village offers absolute tranquility and breathtaking landscapes. There are excellent restaurants in the village and the nearby resort of Costa Calma can be reached within a few minutes by car.

There is a Golf Academy with driving range and putting green at the village nearby. Two 18 hole courses are at Caleta de Fuste - 40 minutes drive away (where the Spanish Open has been held), with another course at Jandia.

The beach at La Pared is about 15 mins walk away, it is quiet and is of soft and golden sand. The Atlantic rollers on this side of the island give good surfing and there are a few surf centres in the village.

The local beach is accessed either via a flight of steps or down sandy slopes; swimming far from this beach is not recommended due to rip currents. The beaches at Costa Calma or Jandia are safer and have easier access for those with mobility issues. There are several surf schools based in La Pared taking advantage of the Atlantic swell.

The local beach is not patrolled by lifeguards - although surfers are almost always present at the southern end (there are a number of surfing schools in the village - also wind and kite surfing at Sotavento near Costa Calma). Strong waves and currents can mean that bathing is not always safe. The nearest patrolled beaches are at Costa Calma and La Barca at Sotavento. The beach at Mal Nombre, about 15 mins drive is a less well-known gem. Cofete on the other hand is a more difficult drive along unsurfaced roads but is an awesome destination where the mountains sweep down majestically to an unspoiled beach.
We are however, just a short drive from the resort of Costa Calma with the town of Jandia / Morro Jable a few more miles further. Close to Costa Calma is the stunning beach of Sotavento where you are guaranteed to be able to find peace and quiet (even when the windsurfing world championship event, which is held here annually is occurring). You will be hard pressed to find any night-life in this part of the island - quiet relaxation is the major attraction.

The sea on the east of the island is calmer but the wind does tend to be brisk, making the area popular for kite and wind surfing.

Due to the proximity of residential properties, Casa Emilia is not suitable for those proposing raucous parties. In fact if you desire the high-life there are other parts of the world better suited; star-gazing and bird spotting are regarded as excitement in La Pared.

The beach at Sotavento seems just about endless and it is possible to walk from Costa Calma all the way to Jandia.

Outside of the resort sunbedded areas, many beaches on the island are popular with naturists - especially to the south of Costa Calma, although they are certainly not exclusively so used. 'Clothing Optional' is the usual term.

The chipmunks that live in the cliffs along the beach are quite tame and curious. You will require an ample supply of peanuts, ready-salted crisps and fresh tomatoes.

Smoking is not permitted in the property.

Changeover day Changeovers are very flexible as regards times of arrival and departure. In the event of another client arriving the same day as your departure, we will have to impose a 10am vacancy time to allow the cleaner access - also the new arrival may have to delay until 1600hrs. Otherwise, there is no restriction and you can depart at your convenience. Enjoy the last day of your holiday!

The only rider on this is that late arrivals after 21.00hrs will attract an extra fee of €15.00 (unless you are willing to forego the greeting by the local representative).

Amenities The airport is about 60 mins drive; there are regular buses linking the capital Puerto del Rosario, the airport and Costa Calma / Jandia. Taxis can be hired from Costa Calma. However we would strongly recommend hiring a car at the airport for the whole of your stay (the cost of a transfer taxi at the start of a holiday and another at the end will match the cost of a weeks car hire). Access to shops etc will be very limited without your own transport during your stay.

The cable TV company that services La Pared utilises the Astra Satellite. The English language channels available are limited mainly to news and music.

There is no broadband/wifi coverage that we are aware of in La Pared, the old harbour area at Morro Jable is a pleasant spot to enjoy a coffee or cold lager whilst taking advantage of the wi-fi hot spots. Other locations are at Costa Calma near the petrol station etc.

Disabled Access The property is accessed from the road via a sloping paved pathway, then two steps at the gate. The house has a flat and smooth floor, with a lip down at the patio doors. The patio is raised by one step from pool level. The shower has a raised floor.

The pool has ladder access only - no concrete steps.

Children and babies We do not specifically aim the rental of this property at those with children or babies, however you are welcome to bring all family members. A cot and high chair are available at request.

Please be aware that the pool is un-railed, deep (approximately 5') and a potential risk for non-swimmers. Children should be guarded at all times.
